Kota Kinabalu: Bikers and runners can be front liners and first responders in a road accident, says State Community Development and People's Well-being Minister (KPMKR), Datuk James Ratib.
“Many times I have heard, read, and seen in Sabah about motorcyclists, especially those involved in delivery services, helping those who are injured, lost, or abandoned on the side of the road.

“I often think that this group is more “front liner” than the “front liners” in emergency services; and I am moved because compared to drivers in larger vehicles, there are many more motorcyclists who are involved,” he said whose text of speech was read by Special Officer (I) to the Minister of KPMKR, Dr Jeremiah Daniel V. Yee Wei when inaugurating the First Aid Rider 2023.
The programme was organised by Sabah Youth Council (SYC) and held at the Youth Arena @ Sabah Youth Council on Saturday.
James who is also the Sugut Assemblyman said the Sabah Government welcomes and appreciates the SYC and the participants in this programme.
“I believe that it is able to achieve the desired objective through the filling of lectures and demonstrations that are able to increase the knowledge of the participants.

“This is especially in preparing them to deal with road accident situations that require first aid while waiting for the arrival of medical services to attend to the victims,” he said.
James congratulated members of the executive committee for their efforts in organising the First Aid Rider 2023 programme.

“I have been told that this programme is being held for the first time by the SYC due to requests from the participants.
“Thank you to all the participants who come today and I hope you will benefit and be equipped with knowledge to help people who need help in their daily movements on the roads,” he added.
