Ranau cops probe video clip of student bullying

RANAU: Police are investigating a video clip of a group of secondary school students here bullying their schoolmates.
Ranau Police Chief DSP Simiun Lomudin said police received information about the five-minute clip that went viral on social media.
ADVERTISEMENT “The video shows footage of bullying involving school students that happened at a secondary school in the district,” he said.
He confirmed that police received a report on the video at 3.30pm on Friday.
“We are investigating,” said Simiun said, urging social media users not to speculate or make disparaging remarks.
He urged the public with any information on the incident to contact the district police Criminal Investigation Department.

In the video clip, at least three students are seen being surrounded, slapped and punched by a group of other students while some the students are seen laughing in the footage.
It could not be ascertained what triggered the incident or when it happened.

In July 2017, a similar incident happened at a secondary school in the district which also went viral on social media.
