RANAU: A family lost all their possessions after a fire razed their home, here, recently.
Head of BBP Ranau, Ridwan bin Mohd Taib, said the incident happened in Kampung Marakau, at about 6.30pm.

“The call was received via the Mers 999 line at 6.33pm. A group of six firemen led by the Operations Commander, PBK II Mastin Suli, rushed to scene.
“We found that the two-storey house was already 95pc burnt.
“The fire brigade extinguished the fire using water sourced from the machinery tank. Fortunately, no casualty was reported,” he said.
According to Ridwan, the operation was reported under control at 7.30pm and after it was confirmed that there was no other danger, the operation ended at 8.48pm.

He reiterated his call towards the public to be more cautious of fire incidents, especially during the dry spell.
“The public needs to prioritise safety first because fire in the open area could easily become uncontrollable, thus risking assets, homes and even lives.

“If there is any open burning that cannot be avoided, it must be monitored and controlled,” he said.
Ridwan added that during the hot season, an increase in calls of venomous animals also becomes frequent.
The people are advised to be wary of venomous animals that would usually look for dim places in the area near houses.
