Kota Kinabalu: The four-day 2023 Property Expo (PropEX23) organised by Sabah Housing and Real Estate Developers Association (Shareda) at Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) ended with over RM300 million in transactions, Sunday.

PropEX attracted 62 exhibitors and vendors who have put up a total of 79 booths with total exhibited properties estimated to worth RM11.41 billion.

This is a huge confidence booster for the industry as the market is still recovering from increased construction prices.

Organising Chairperson Joanne Chung said the event drew more than 1,000 visitors daily.

Photography competitions, a monopoly game and the Race to 6888 treasure hunt were among activities for all age groups.

“On Saturday, we heard from a wide range of speakers including a session on i-Miliki and the Housing Credit Guarantee Scheme (SJKP) which hopefully shed light on how new homeowners can achieve their dream homes within their means.

“We also had specialists from Melbourne to enlighten on international opportunities in both Australia and the United Kingdom,” she said.

Dr Ahmad Wazir Aiman spoke about aged care facilities which has been a sorely lacking area in the property industry as well as another by Yong on integration of Artificial Intelligence and the use of drones in multiple industries.

“PropEX is no stranger to lavish and extravagant booths, but I feel that this year had the most well decorated and extensive booths ever,” she said.

Shareda Deputy President, Datuk Johnny Wong Chen Yee thanked the Federal and State government for support.

“Cooperation between the Ministry of Local Government Development and Shareda has enabled the real estate development industry to prosper and move forward.

The current landscape of the development scene has centred on affordable housing whereby households in the B40 income category are able to participate in the market.

Awards were later handed out to winners of the cosiest and comfortable booth, most eye-catching model house, most ingenious ad and best sales team outfit won by KTI, North Borneo Land Properties, Remajaya and Nippon Paint Sabah, respectively.

Visitors took home vouchers for winning the best look-alike family portrait, best dressed Merdeka theme and monopoly game competitions.
