Janih resigns as Sabah Badminton Association's chief
Kota Kinabalu: Janih Bangud (pic) has quit as president of Sabah Badminton Association after a decade at the helm.

He tendered his resignation letter addressed to deputy president Kepli Limun on Wednesday.

The Sabah Sports Board deputy chairman cited work commitment for his sudden decision to step down with immediate effect although his current term is supposed to end only on December 31 this year.

“My decision to resign is due to the fact that it is becoming more difficult for me to commit fully as president of this association.

“Apart from carrying out my duty as Sabah Sports Board deputy chairman, I also have to concentrate on my role as Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah Kiulu chief as well as a councillor of Tuaran District Council,” he said.

He expressed his gratitude to all the support he received during his tenure and is confident his successor will bring more success to the sport.

Janih took over the post from Datuk Maijol Mahap in 2013 and under his leadership, the association has gone on to achieve great success in the junior circuit.

The teams were crowned Group B overall champions in the first two legs of the Affin-100Plus Junior Elite Tour this year.

They won the first leg in March with six golds, four silvers and five bronzes followed by seven golds, five silvers and three bronzes in the second leg held in July.
