LABUAN: The local authorities and management company overseeing ferry terminals in Menumbok, Sabah and Labuan are taking stringent measures to ensure a smooth operation of sea transport for passenger boats.

Sabah Ports and Harbour Department Director Maswandee Maimoon said his department was taking decisive measures to enhance sea transport services between mainland Menumbok and Labuan, addressing concerns regarding delays in the passenger boat schedule.

“We conducted an investigation into the allegations and found that there was indeed a delay in the afternoon schedule from Menumbok to Labuan on Thursday (Sept 7).

“We inquired with the operator responsible, and they informed us that the delay was due to a malfunctioning boat engine propeller,” he said when responding to the public complaints highlighted Friday.

When it comes to skincare, the first thought on our minds would be beauty products such as serums, creams, and masks. However, beauty experts and even researchers have stated that drinking more water can be just as crucial for your skin's health.
While this delay was an isolated incident, Maswandee expressed hope that such issues would not recur in the future.

He stressed the importance of adhering to regulations and maintaining punctuality to ensure the safety and satisfaction of passengers.

Noor Halim Zaini, Chief Executive Officer of LDA Holdings Sdn Bhd, the management company of Labuan International Ferry Terminal, reassured the public that there have been no widespread issues regarding boat schedule delays.

He noted that the majority of boat operators travelling between Labuan and Menumbok or Sipitang in Sabah have been consistently following the scheduled timings.

“Our operators prioritise adhering to the designated schedule rather than operating based on capacity.

“Punctuality is a key aspect of our services, and we are committed to providing reliable transportation options for passengers,” he said.

He said the collaboration between local authorities and ferry terminal management companies signifies a joint commitment to improving sea transport services and addressing passenger concerns.

Noor Halim said passengers travelling between Menumbok and Labuan can expect enhanced monitoring and stricter adherence to schedule guidelines, ensuring smoother and more reliable ferry services in the future.

There are 10 trips daily back and forth for the routes from Menumbok-Labuan and only two trips daily, from Labuan-Sipitang and Sabah-Labuan.
