MMEA seizes RM39K beer in Menumbok smuggled from Labuan

Kota Kinabalu: The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) foiled an attempt to smuggle 6,000 cans of untaxed beer from Labuan worth more than RM39,000 in Menumbok on Saturday.
The MMEA said a speed boat was detected speeding out of Klias River and aftr realising the agency’s presence, all suspects who were unloading the goods onto a lorry fled leaving behind the crates of beer.

“The beers are believed to be smuggled out of Labuan for resale at the local market for a low price,” the MMEA said.
