SANDAKAN: About 80 per cent of residents in this district avoid paying assessment to the Sandakan Municipal Council (MPS).
Local Government and State Housing Assistant Minister 11 Datuk Mohamad Hamsan Awang Supain said this must be avoided.

“This is because assessment will return to the people in terms of services provided by the local authority here,” said the Sungai Sibuga Assemblyman.
He said failure to pay assessment would result in lack of local development.
