Kota Kinabalu: Peratusan keseluruhan wanita yang terbabit dalam arena politik di Sabah kekal rendah walaupun banyak usaha untuk meningkatkan penyertaan mereka dalam parlimen dan DUN bermula awal 1980-an.
Pengerusi Institut Pengajian Pembangunan Sabah (IDS) Datuk Adeline Leong berkata, keadaan itu amat membimbangkan.

Katanya, hanya 43 daripada 447 calon dalam pilihan raya yang lalu adalah wanita. Ia hanya mewakili sembilan peratus daripada keseluruhan jumlah calon.
