Pacquiao to get Kota Kinabalu chess invite

Kota Kinabalu: Retired world boxing champion Manny Pacquiao will be invited to attend the upcoming Eastern Asia Juniors and Girls Chess Championship 2023.
Sabah Chess Association (SCA) President, Muammar Julkarnain, announced that the championship, to be hosted in Kota Kinabalu from Dec 1 to 9, is open to players below the age of 20 from the International Chess Federation (Fide) Zone 3.3 and 3.5 (China).
“The event, jointly organised by SCA and the Malaysian Chess Federation (MCF), has communicated with Manny’s side as we intend to appoint him as the ambassador for the championship,” said Muammar during the closing ceremony of Chess Fiesta 2023, which marked the 25th silver jubilee celebration of Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB).
