Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) continues to become the ultimate venue for major events with its recent hosting of the Cult Malaysia Day Parade.

This iconic facility has consistently proven its potential, boasting the capacity to accommodate about 500 automobiles in its expansive foyer while facilitating the participation of 1,000 attendees and vendors.

On Sunday, State Tourism, Culture and Environment Assistant Minister Datuk Joniston Bangkuai launched the car parade in conjunction with the 60th Malaysia Day celebration.

Present were SICC Chief Executive Officer Datuk Rosmawati Lasuki, Car and Urban Lifestyle Trends (Cult) event director Azlin Awang Chee and Cult promotion director John Kong.

“SICC commitment to community engagement and fostering the spirit of unity is truly commendable,” said Joniston.

“Without their support and dedication, an event of this magnitude would not have been possible.”

The Cult Malaysia Day Parade was a vibrant display of diverse cars, with some adorned with Sabah and national flags, setting the stage for the upcoming Cult car show event in November, aptly named “The Apex of Car Culture in Borneo.”

In 2022, Cult hosted its inaugural event, attracting a participation of 650 cars and drawing in 20,000 visitors to the SICC.

Building upon the success of the previous year, Cult has set an ambitious goal for this year’s event—aiming to welcome 30,000 visitors and showcase an even more extensive array of international automobiles.

“Sabah, known for its diverse cultural heritage and natural beauty, needs events like these to propel our tourism industry forward.

“The Cult event has the potential to become a hallmark event on Sabah’s activity calendar, attracting tourists and enthusiasts from far and wide.

“With the support of SICC, this event serves as a platform for showcasing our unique culture and vibrant lifestyle,” he said.
