Kota Kinabalu: The hybreed grouper which is very popular with seafood lovers has long been hailed as a proud research breakthrough achieved by the Borneo Marine Research Institute, Universiti Malaysia Sabah, where 40 members of the Sabah Australian Alumni Association (SAAA) rallied last Saturday.
“This was the second event organised by the SAAA after its revival last year,” noted association President and Organising Chairman, Datuk Verus Aman, who credited both his committee and also Prof Dr Rosetta Shapawi, Director of Borneo Marine Research Institute (BMRI) and her team of experts.

In her speech, Prof Rosetta, who is also dean of post graduate studies at UMS, stressed that the Institute practices its motto on conservation and sustainable development of marine resources.
“The Borneo Marine Research Institute has the knowledge, skills and expertise to perform its role,” Prof Rosetta asserted.
