LABUAN: Indications that the teacher in SMK Taun Gusi in Kota Belud is still keeping his job despite playing truant for months and causing SPM students to fail has raised eyebrows.
Former Kota Kinabalu Member of Parliament Datuk Hiew King Chieu said it was surprising that the teacher is still being retained instead of being sacked.
“Refusing to teach English for seven months is a gross professional misconduct and disciplinary action was expected to deliver a strong message,” said Hiew.
It appears that the Ministry State Education Director and the school was making a mockery of the High Court decision which held these quarters responsible for what happened, he said.
