Hulksters return with a gold, a silver, four bronzes
The State bodybuilding contingent.
Kota Kinabalu: Sabah clinched one gold, one silver and four bronzes to finish eighth overall at the 2nd Mr Malaysia Bodybuilding and Physique championship held in Kuala Lumpur over the weekend.

Lily Nur Izzaty Ahmad won the only gold medal in the women’s athletics physique category by beating Tan Hwei Ling of Kedah and in third place was Sarawak’s Kasma Mohd Kadir.

The silver came from Janteha Lingam in the women’s model physique who lost to Tina Nubin from Sarawak, while the bronze medals were delivered by Bryan Isidore Tubong (men’s athletics up to 175cm), Shedy Dorunsi (light flyweight +55kg), Nicholas Li Boon Shiew (light 70kg) and Ronald Charlie Rycho (welterweight 75kg).

Team manager Clarence Runggi congratulated the medal winners and was pleased with the performance of the athletes despite not achieving their two golds and two silvers target.

“Very happy with the result and it proves that we can contribute medals in the physique and bodybuilding categories.

“I hope we are able to unearth more athletes to excel and achieve success at higher levels in the future,” he said.

He also thanked main sponsor Andrew Liew Vui Liong who is the managing director of Navig8 Maritime Services Sdn Bhd and also Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Minister Datuk Ewon Benedict for sponsoring meals to the State contingent upon their return.
