Kota Kinabalu: Spreading fake news by irresponsible people will damage Sabah’s reputation and credibility as an investment destination, according to Liberal Democratic Party (LDP).
Its President Datuk Chin Su Phin said false information has become inevitable part in this social media era.
“Regrettably, spreading such information can cause serious damage to a credible entity or individual,” he said, adding any alleged wrongdoing involving investments or deals should be handled through proper legal channels.
“These should be reported to the enforcement authorities such as the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Agency (MACC) or the police to ensure a fair and transparent investigation, instead of posting on social media that could tarnish Sabah’s image, or worse, lead to financial losses,” said Chin.
