Hajiji tells civil servants to engage in sports and maintain health
Hajiji said sports activities are an important element to build a noble personality and healthy society, in addition to discovering talents among civil servants that can be utilised to a higher level.
Kota Kinabalu: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor called on civil servants to engage in sports and maintain their health as the State Government needs quality workforce to deliver its services.

He said the Chief Minister’s Department (JKM), as the leading organisation in the State Government’s administration, especially requires a workforce that is fast and effective.

“In efforts to make the Sabah Maju Jaya Development Plan (SMJ) a success, we require civil servants who are healthy, intelligent, efficient and capable of being competitive.

“Thus, I encourage civil servants, especially JKM employees, to spend some time in their daily schedule to exercise. Not only to be fit but to avoid various diseases”, he said in his speech when launching the Closing Ceremony of the 13th JKM Muhibah Sports Festival 2023 at Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC), Friday.

A total of 10 types of sports were contested in the bi-annual sports tournament, which was participated by six teams namely the Chief Minister’s Department , City Hall (DBKK), Land and Surveys Department, Sabah Forestry, Yayasan Sabah and Sawit Kinabalu.

Hajiji said the JKM Muhibah Sports Festival was the best platform for recreation as well as sharing ideas and opinions among civil servants to further strengthen their respective organisations.

He said sports activities are an important element to build a noble personality and healthy society, in addition to discovering talents among civil servants that can be utilised to a higher level.

He added that the sports festival, which was established in 1999, can further strengthen cooperation, increase team spirit and sportsmanship among JKM employees, thus encouraging and cultivating a healthy lifestyle through sports activities.

Hajiji also hoped that the sports festival can encourage the public service to maintain good physical, mental, social and spiritual health and hence work better.

“Personally, I think this sports festival symbolises harmony between civil servants under JKM, which can be applied in community life, thus realising the aspirations of Madani Malaysia and Sabah Maju Jaya,” he said.
