PETALING JAYA: Labuan MP Suhaili Abdul Rahman has confirmed receiving allocations for his constituency after declaring support for Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on Oct 30.
He said the allocation was received on a pro rata basis, but declined to reveal the amount.
“Yes, it’s been approved. Now we’re waiting to set things up with the service centre’s bank account. The government has given the allocation,” he said.
“(The allocation) was prorated… the important thing is that I received it. I wouldn’t lie about this,” he told FMT.
Suhaili claimed he had gone to the Prime Minister’s Office to obtain the funds.
At the end of last month, the Bersatu MP had declared his support for Anwar after considering the rising cost of living, and the faulty water and electricity supplies that his constituents were facing.
Meanwhile in the Dewan Rakyat today, Ahmad Fadhli Shaari (PN-Pasir Mas) questioned Putrajaya’s handover of the allocation to Suhaili after the latter had declared his support for Anwar.
“I congratulate the Labuan MP for receiving approval for his constituency’s allocation yesterday. He was given the allocation after declaring his support for Anwar.
“Must we declare our support first before receiving our allocations? I feel this is not in line with the democracy that we have upheld all this while,” he said.
