Alesyah, who received a trophy, RM5,000 cash and a certificate of appreciation, expressed her gratitude to those who mentored and supported her in her educational and career journey.
Keningau Vocational College (KYC) Head of Research and Innovation, Dr Sirhajwan Idek, said Alesyah, a Murut from Nabawan, was also awarded the 2023 Sabah TVET Icon in October and recipient of the 2023 Minister of Education’s Gold Award in March.
“Alesyah, who graduated in March 2023, made history last year by being the first Malaysian to be a top 10 finalist of the Global Student Prize, the world’s most prestigious student award that offers USD100,000 to one winner annually.
“Her successful nomination was attributed to her contribution and impact in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) programme, in which she trained school students and teachers in operating emerging technological trends like drones and 3D printers,” he said.
