Why Sandakan Urban Transformation Centre proposal rejected

SANDAKAN: The establishment of Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) in Sandakan was shelved because there are currently three UTCs in Sabah.
According to Deputy Minister of Finance, Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan, the Ministry of Finance is unable to approve the additional UTC as only three UTCs are allowed for every state.
Ahmad suggested discussing with the Chief Minister the possibility of building a UTC run by the State Government.
Previously, there was approval for a UTC in Sandakan at Menara Majlis Perbandaran Sandakan(MPS) in 2019, but during the Parliament’s Special Chamber m session in May 2023, the Minister Ahmad Maslan responded that the approval was shelved.
