Internet upgraded in 607 govt premises

SABAH Net Sdn Bhd under the Ministry has successfully upgraded internet in 607 State government premises (or 81 per cent) with a minimum speed of 100Mbps.
“This upgrade will continue in 393 premises in phases and are expected to be completed in 2025. Twelve of the 31 e-Desa Centres have also been upgraded using optical fibre with a minimum speed of 300Mbps and upgrade for the remaining 19 centre in phases.

“Concerned with cyber security, Sabah Net Sdn Bhd updated its cyber security system with the latest technology. This agency is a member of the Sabah Government Cyber Incident Response Team (SgCSIRT) and collaborates with Cyber Security authorities, namely Cyber Security Malaysia (CSM) and National Cyber Security Agency (NACSA),” he said.
Another agency under KSTI, Sabah Creative and Innovation Centre (SCENIC) that had been established for three years, Dr Mohd Arifin said some 271 programme initiatives had been implemented with participation of 10,385 people of various ages with 385 collaborators.
For next year, he said SCENIC planned a structured initiative to facilitate and improve the adaptation of technology in the context of entrepreneurship, as well as stimulate innovation and creativity among entrepreneurs in Sabah.
“The Technology Start-up Incubator Programme is also designed to foster and support the next generation of technology pioneers by providing the resources, guidance and environment needed to grow,” he said.

Sabah Skills and Technology Centre (SSTC) under KSTI, Dr Mohd Arifin said it would continue training and workforce skills programmes by focusing on empowering training or programmes based on technology or digital IR 4.0.

Apart from that, he said the agency would also organise courses based on digital technology such as “Augmentative Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), Internet of Things (IOT)” and many more.

Next year, he said SSTC would continue efforts to train more participants from various levels. Following this, he added a total of 17 high-impact courses would be organised by SSTC next year such as the Certificate Programme in Oil Palm Plantation Technology & Practices, Certificate in Offshore Medical Excellence Program (OMEP), and Automation & Robotic Empowerment Series, among others.
