Questions over Tamu as congestion worsens

PENAMPANG: With Donggongon township becoming more congested, whether the thrice weekly Tamu that is the main cause will be moved to a new venue and the present site converted to a multi-storey bumiputra business centre remains to be seen.

One of the alternative sites being mentioned is the Tun Fuad building near the Council headquarters that had not been used the past five years.

Moyog Community Development Unit leader Joseph Suleiman said each time the tamu is held on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, Donggongon would be packed with vehicles, making it a challenge to enter or leave the township.

“Saturdays and Sundays are also crowded with vehicles because the same site is used by other villagers and young entrepreneurs selling bundled goods such as clothes, shoes, toys, food and market produce,” he said.
