No action, so Sandakan folks install solar lights
The road in question.
SANDAKAN: Several residents near the Mile 10 education hub, here, resorted to installing a solar light at the roundabout as the streetlights are not functioning.

Din, one of the residents, said his vision is limited when using the road at night, especially when it rains.

“Complaints had been lodged, but we have yet to see any action taken to repair the broken lights,” he said.

Recently, a driver’s vehicle crashed by the roadside when manoeuvring the unlit roundabout.

Aside from the area, other lights street are also found to need to be fixed along Jalan BDC-Mile 3 and the Mile 7 road in front of the Pengiran Galpam Mosque heading towards the roundabout next to the Court building.

A driver, who wanted to remain anonymous, claimed he nearly hit a pedestrian as the area was dark.

“Several elected representatives here had voiced out the problem but have not received a response from the relevant authorities.”

To this end, the residents here hoped broken streetlights here would be maintained and fixed to ensure the safety of road users, especially at night or when it rains.
