Kuala Lumpur: The Ipoh High Court court has rejected a petition to overturn Perikatan Nasional representative Hilman Idham’s victory in Gombak Setia, confirming his place in the Selangor assembly.
The petition by Gombak Setia voter Shaffie Omar had sought, besides costs and any relief deemed fit by the court, an order to overturn Hilman’s victory on Aug 12.

He had alleged that RM150 had been given as an inducement for voters during the Selangor polls between Aug 4 and 5.
In the state polls, Hilman had won the Gombak Setia seat with 30,299 votes, defeating Barisan Nasional’s Megat Zulkarnain Omardin (30,241 votes) and independent candidate Salim Ali (1,076 votes).
Hilman’s defence was led by former judicial commissioner Awang Armadajaya Awang Mahmud.
A former PKR Youth deputy chief, Hilman had defeated Megat with a slim majority of 58 votes.

He was first elected Gombak Setia assemblyman in 2018, winning the seat on a PKR ticket with a majority of 12,399 votes.
Before this, both Pakatan Harapan and BN were considering filing election petitions to annul the results of the Taman Medan, Sungai Kandis, Gombak Setia and Dengkil state seats, where the victory margins were small.

PH later decided not to proceed with challenging the results of the Taman Medan, Sungai Kandis and Dengkil seats won by PN in August.
