Safa Cup: Nabawan and Keningau make grand finals
Also celebrated at the event, was the Keningau FA women’s team that recently won third place in the Datin Seri Panglima Datuk Hajah Julia Salag Football Championship, which was held in Kota Kinabalu.
KENINGAU: Nabawan FA and Keningau FA from Upper Interior zone qualified for the Grand Final round of the Sabah Football Association (Safa) Cup football tournament to be held in Kota Kinabalu this month.

This Grand Final stage will see a total of 12 teams from six zones throughout the State competing in the tournament which will be held on Jan 26 and 27.

The venue that will be used in this tournament is Sukma A and B fields and the final will be held at Likas Stadium. Keningau FA President Rafie Robert hopes that the Keningau FA team will be among the top three in the Sabah Football Association Cup (Safa) football tournament.

“Although at the Upper Interior Zone level, Keningau FA’s team finished second behind Nabawan FA from four teams including Tenom and Tambunan FAs, I believe Keningau will rise to catch up among the top three in the State,” he said at a dinner to celebrate Keningau FA’s men’s and women’s football teams here last Thursday.
