Kota Kinabalu: More than 200 running enthusiasts took part in the Spirit of 85, 10km Fun Run co-organised by Sabah and Labuan Extreme Adventure Fan Club and PBS which was held at the Hongkod Koisaan area, Kadazan Dusun Cultural Association (KDCA), here, last Sunday (Jan 28).
Club president Steve Johnny Mositun was delighted with the large turnout and thanked PBS for co-organising the event.
“We did not expect to receive more than 200 entries. The participation of some State athletes also makes this Fun Run more competitive,” he said.
He added that lucky draws were held at the event as well as an exhibition by the main sponsor KKIP Sdn Bhd and other contributors include Deputy Chief Minister II Datuk Seri Dr. Joachim Gunsalam who is also the deputy president of KDCA.
He also expressed his gratitude to the support of all those involved including the sponsors to ensure the success of the event
President of KDCA, Huguan Siou Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan, who flagged off the event and presented the prizes, hoped it would become an annual affair.
Meanwhile, the top three winners in all the categories were Lavinia Kong, Fong En Chyi, Natasha Soon (open women), Jamie Fu, Tammy Chew, Kona Liaw (veteran women), Ruston Masri, Mohd Zurkarnian Masuyuk, Guianus Salagan (veteran men), Wincenbert Latiu, Romeo Gomboh and Mohammad Ahsan (open men).
