Kota Kinabalu: A Sabah-based company, EWT Technology Sdn Bhd, which sells electronic gadgets and technologies products, has expanded its business by moving into a bigger space at Suria Sabah Shopping Mall here to better serve their customers’ needs.

The company’s founder, Wong, said the original store at the mall occupied 9,000 sq ft.

In response to a strategic decision to expand, the store was relocated to a more expansive 13,000 sq ft on the same floor.

Expressing gratitude, he said: “We are also thankful to the management of Makemewah Sdn Bhd for providing us with the opportunity to transition to a larger and more prominent location.”

He said such move was necessary due to high market demand so that more products can be comfortably displayed and provide more choices for the customers to choose from.

“This new flagship EWT store is a one-stop centre for our electronic products which we want to provide a better shopping experience and the people can patronise our store to shop for computer hardware, computer games, mobile phones, accessories and other technology products.

“The store has technical staff to accommodate  customers on their needs when buying our products.

“For example, if the customers want to buy laptops, we would first ask the customers’ needs and purpose of buying the laptops either for work or playing computer games.

“By doing so, the customers’ would not waste their shopping time and energy to look for suitable products because our technical staff will attend to them,” he said.

Wong shared these insights with reporters after the grand opening of the flagship store by Mayor Dato’ Sri Dr. Sabin Samitah and his wife, Datin Sri Adreen Aderizza i Mohamad Soffi along with EWT Board of Director Erni and Tracy on the second floor of Suria Sabah.

Also present was Humphrey Tan, Chairman of Makemewah Sdn Bhd.

The event was also enlivened by dragon and lion dance performances, and lucky draw.

In addition, Wong said EWT technical staff even provide insurance services for  customers’ products to cover any damages and they will be compensated.

To a question, he said the store targets young consumers who are looking for comfort and confidence which is the trend among them, nowadays.

“EWT business concept is to make sure the store fits the young people needs perfectly and also to cater to their mentality of this generation.

“This young people are different from us…where we would still keep our mobile phones even with little damage but the young people would change and upgrade their mobile phones to be in line with current lifestyle and trends like increasing the speed, storage and have better features, for instance.

“So, these are the young generations that we want to tap on their needs as they also have high purchasing power to buy those products in order to be in trending apart from fulfilling their needs,” he said.

On future plans, Wong shared the company’s vision to expand its presence in various districts across Sabah, including Sandakan, Tawau, Lahad Datu and Keningau, aiming to provide a broader understanding of IT and gadget products for the younger generation.

He said the initiative is also geared towards ensuring that no youngster is left behind in keeping up with technology advancements.

Earlier, Wong said the direction of EWT is simple and clear, which is to offer a shopping experience that goes beyond transactions, where every visit to our store is an exploration of lifestyle, trends, and personal expression.

“We have meticulously curated our collections, envisioned our store layout, and prepared our team to guarantee that each interaction with us is memorable. Here is to new beginnings, shared success, and a bright future together.

“We thanked everyone who has been with us every step of the way until the launching of this new store. This journey has been filled with dedication, passion and collaborative effort, and it is an honour to share this milestone,” he said in his speech at the event.

Wong said EWT is a physical store that offers products at reasonable prices and guaranteed that the store only sells genuine products at its store and will not disappoint their customers.
