Kota Kinabalu: The Kota Kinabalu Hokkien Association and Kian Kok Middle School Board of Directors will jointly host a 10th anniversary memorial service for Datuk Seri Sari Nuar on March 25.

Sari was the permanent honorary chairman for both organisations. The event is scheduled for 9am in Kian Kok Middle School hall.

Memorial service chairman Datuk Clement Yeh Chang who heads, the Kota Kinabalu Hokkien Association, said the service is a poignant way to pay tribute to Sari’s legacy. 

Yeh emphasised gratitude for the enduring contributions made by the late Sari to the community’s well-being and education. 

“This significant memorial service aims to showcase the spirit of perseverance within the Hokkien community and the remarkable achievements of Kian Kok Middle School, fulfilling the aspirations of its predecessors,” he said.

The memorial service will feature a dignified reflection on Sari’s life by prominent individuals and guests. 

Community leaders would be invited to share anecdotes and memories of the late Sari. 

The programme will conclude with a ceremony to unveil a bronze statue.

Organising committee chairman Steven Liaw Chee Kok, said the service provides a rare opportunity for family and friends to come together, reminisce, and share memories of the late Sari. 

He said the committee invites the public to submit written contributions expressing their fond memories of Sari to [email protected], including relevant photos with Kian Kok Middle School or the Kota Kinabalu Hokkien Association. 

The closing date is on March 11.
