BEAUFORT: Overtaking cost a 46-year-old woman her life after her Perodua Kembara collided with a Toyota Hilux at KM12 of the Beaufort-Papar road near Lumbunau, here, last Saturday.
District police Chief, DSP Ismail Abdullah, said medical officers pronounced the victim dead at 6.28pm.
She was from Kg Balibata.
Meanwhile, the Hilux driver, 59, and his wife and two children aged two and six, sustained minor injuries.
All victims were taken to the Beaufort Hospital. The father was sent via ambulance and later joined by his family who were taken by relatives while police sent the other victim’s body.
It was found that the Hilux was driving from Beaufort town towards Membakut.
“The Kembara came from the opposite direction and tried to overtake,” Ismail said, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Firemen earlier extricated the victim from the car and hosed down the road filled with oil spill and debris.
