Kota Kinabalu: The Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MICCI) Sabah recevied a courtesy call by Emir Salim Yuksel, Ambassador of Turkiye to Malaysia, during his visit to the State capital, recently.
During the meeting Emir Salim briefed the Branch Chairman of MICCI Sabah, Datuk Lee Swi Heng and its Exco members, Datuk Susan Chang, Matthew Loh, Datuk Hajah Rosmawati Hj Lasuki and Datuk CK Tan on potentials of Turkiye.

According to Emir, Sabah has great trade and investment potentials due to its strategic location with Brunei, Kalimantan-Indonesia, and the Philippines.
Moreover direct flights from Istabul to Kuala Lumpur by Turkish Airlines, Malaysia Airlines and Batik Air will further facilitate trade and investment in Malaysia.
Emir said there were three business delegations from Turkiye last month, but all visited West Malaysia.
These delegates comprised of industry players from medical, automative and renewal energy sectors.
Emir said there would be a business delegation in export industries from Turkiye to Malaysia next month; and he hoped that more b2b activities would be carried out during their trade and investment mission to Malaysia.
Moreover, he urged both countries to explore and promote the potential of bilateral trade and investment activities between Turkiye and Malaysia business communities, particularly business communities in Sabah.
He added that the FTA between Turkiye and Malaysia, signed in 2014 and came effective in 2015, would facilitate many more export and import businesses between the two countries.
The Embassy is also expected to participate in business international events in Sabah in near future, such as Sabah International Expo (SIE).
Lee, thanked Emir and Merve Kadiroglu, the Commercial Counsellor of the Embassy of Turkiye to Malaysia, for their visit and ensured to working closely with the embassy in near future.
