BEAUFORT: Kim Teck Cheong Consolidated Berhad (KTC) has been scouting for potential workers through the “Program Jelajah Amal Berbuka Puasa” (Breaking of Fast Charity Tour Programme), in collaboration with the Community Development Leaders Unit (UPPM) throughout the fasting month.
Its Chief Executive Director Datuk Dexter Lau said the Sabahan listed company is committed to reaching out to communities across the State.
He said it aims to provide job opportunities to youths, both in the outskirts and around the city.
“I have made a lot of friends during this tour while engaging myself in conversations and I hope we can keep in touch,” he said in conjunction with the conclusion of the 25-day tour.
Also present were State Assistant Minister of Local Government and Housing, Datuk Isnin Aliasnih, Kuala Penyu Assemblyman cum Assistant Works Minister Datuk Limus Jury and UPPM Sabah Director Datuk Awang Kadin Tang.
Meanwhile, the Keningau Journalists Association (KJA) of Sabah presented donations to the trainees of the Community Rehabilitation Organisation (PPDK) at the breaking of fast ceremony held in Kampung Merampong in Keningau.

KJA President, Marutin Ansiung, said the activity not only helps media practitioners to not only focus on their duties, which is delivering authentic news, but also helping those in need.
He said, at the same time, they could also strengthen ties with the community and indirectly develop networks for cooperation in the future.
At the event, PPDK received food and financial aid in addition to its trainees receiving Raya donations presented by Marutin to PPDK Chairwoman, Hajah Salbiah Suhaideh.
“We hope to be able to lighten the burden of the families during Raya,” he said.
Meanwhile, Merampong PPDK Chairperson, Hajah Salbiah Suhaideh expressed her appreciation to KJA for the first visit received by the PPDK.
Also present at the event were KJA Deputy President, Dr Francis Andin, KJA Vice President, Hector Zaimit, KJA Secretary General, Sharon Caroline Ernest, KJA Committee Members and staffs of PPDK Merampong.
In KOTA KINABALU, Sabah Audit Department’s Kelab Sukan dan Kebajikan Audit Sabah (Keskas) shared the joy to some 450 staff, patients and public through their food basket distribution programme at hospitals in the city.
Through the club’s initiative, Program Kebahagian Bersama, Edaran Bakul Makanan was carried out at Queen Elizabeth Hospital 1 (HQE1) and 2 (HQE2) as well as Sabah Women and Children Hospital (HKKWS), Likas.
The programme was carried out in two stages in which 250 food baskets were distributed at HQE2 and HKKWS for sahur while 200 food baskets were distributed at HQE1 for breaking-fast (iftar).
Also present were its Director cum Keskas Chairperson Dr Mona Othman and Deputy Director cum Keskas Deputy Chairperson Halimuddin Chongge.
