TAMBUNAN: Tambunan will develop vanilla cultivation as a commercial agricultural activity and make the district the largest vanilla producer in the country, said Deputy Chief Minister I Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan.
He said a vanilla cultivation programme and course will be started in the near future and about 200 people have registered.

“Vanilla does not require a large planting area. A quarter of an acre to half an acre is sufficient,” he said when officiating the Mukim Sunsuran Kaamatan festival, here, recently.
Jeffrey, who is also Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industry Minister, said farmers only need to learn manual pollination without the help of insects such as bees.
