Attempted theft lands man in jail
He was charged under Section 379A of the Penal Code read with Section 511 of the Penal Code.
Kota Kinabalu: A 30-year-old man was sentenced to 20 months’ jail by the Magistrate’s Court here on Thursday for attempted theft.

Kho Lok Sun pleaded guilty before Magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles to trying to steal a car battery belonging to Tan Jy Shuan at 11am on Jan 9, this year at a house in Taman Fortuna here.

He was charged under Section 379A of the Penal Code read with Section 511 of the Penal Code.

The court heard from the prosecution that on the said day, Kho, riding a motorcycle, was seen approaching the house and entering the compound.

Kho was caught by the complainant while he was about to leave the compound and was found holding a car battery.

The prosecution informed the court that Kho is currently serving 16 months’ jail for drug offence.

Lovely ordered Kho to serve the sentence concurrently with his present jail sentence.

In another case, three waiters were charged with stealing various food products from their workplace.

Dixonn Daimin, 18, Matius Joseph, 25, and Jackey Ereson, 20, allegedly stole two frozen groupers, three cans of drink, two packs of salted egg paste, two packs of pork, two packs of prawn, two bottles of Thai sauce and three cans of evaporated milk from Hong Yun restaurant at Borneon Centre, Luyang,  between 2.34pm and 2.40pm on March 28.

The trio pleaded not guilty to the charge under Section 380 of the Penal Code.

The court set May 17 for case management and released the accused on bail of RM1,000 in two sureties each.
