SKA Main Dojo clinch overall title

Kota Kinabalu: SKA Main Dojo won the overall title in the 21st Sabah State Cadet Junior Under-21 Karate Championship held at Seri Sulaiman Hall in Tuaran over the weekend.

They captured a total of eight golds, six silvers and nine bronzes to dethrone defending champions SKA Penampang who came second with eight golds, four silvers and six bronzes while Keningau Sports Complex Karate Club with seven golds, six silvers and nine bronzes came in third.

Main Dojo’s Nur Rasyiqah Fariah Razmi competiting in the female 14-15 category was also crowned best female athlete with two individual gold medals in the cadet and kumite-54kg as well as a team gold in the kata event with Allysia Dania Abd Salim and Nur Shaheen Izazi Imtiaz Ali.

The other gold medal winners for the champions were Neyo Chai Xiao Lee (youth 12), Adlin Vince Viceroy (male cadet 14-15), Danish Rayyan Rajis (male youth -50kg kumite 12-13), Al Zovainz Zurizal (male -57kg cadet 14-15) and Ethan Iskandar Mohamad (male under-21 +84kg kumite 18-20).

The silvers came from Adellea Zara Amani Subrih (female 12 youth), Bibi Aysha Muhd Zain (female 14-15 cadet), Dania Eryna Iwansyah (female youth kumite 12-13), Danish Rayyan Rajis (male 13 youth), Al Zovainz Zurizal (male 14-15 cadet), Eddel Jerry Jaimun (male 16-17 junior).

The bronze medals were delivered by Nur Ain Humairah Abd Rahman (female 12 youth), Afni Batrisyawati Viceboy (female 13 youth), Nur Hafidzatul Alma Jakaria (female 18-21 under-21), Mohd Afiq Hazriq Sedry (male 12 youth), Ryyen Ryye Gerrard Rojin (male cadet 14-15, kumite cadet 14-15), Alvince Zurizal (male 16-17 junior), Adlin Vince Viceboy (male kumite 14-15 cadet) and Vijay Al Gopi (male kumite junior 16-17).

Sabah Karate Association (SKA) secretary general Julian Chin said the main purpose of the two-day competition participated by 440 athletes from 23 of its affiliates was to select athletes to represent the State in the National Cadet, Junior and Under-21 Championship scheduled to be held in Kuala Lumpur in May.

The opening ceremony was officiated by the Chief Minister’s chief political secretary Datuk Abd Kassim Jali while the closing ceremony was attended by SKA vice president Godfrey Anthony.
