NABAWAN: The Nabawan Community Rehabilitation Centre (PPDK) has garnered strong support from local authorities and community leaders, recognising its vital role in empowering individuals with disabilities within the district.

The centre’s recent Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration was attended by Nabawan Community Development Leader Deckson Andipai and other officials, highlighting the collaborative efforts to uplift the disabled community.

Addressing the gathering, Andipai emphasised the importance of the PPDK in providing specialised training tailored to the unique abilities of people with disabilities, following guidelines set by the Social Welfare Department.

“We are confident this centre can train people with disabilities according to their respective abilities,” he said, speaking on behalf of Nabawan Assemblyman Datuk Abdul Ghani Mohamed Yassin.

Andipai further affirmed that both the Adun office and the Community Development Leader Unit (UPPM) in Nabawan are committed to providing moral support and cooperation to the PPDK, acknowledging its crucial role in the district.

Since its establishment in 2015, the Nabawan PPDK has made significant strides in empowering individuals with disabilities, currently serving over 70 trainees. Adini @ Ahmad Angilas, the centre’s Chairman, highlighted the transformative impact the facility has had on its participants.

“This centre has produced people with disabilities who are now able to be independent and manage themselves, equipped with the knowledge and skills acquired throughout their training,” Adini said.

Adini also assured parents that their children would be in capable hands, with dedicated trainers ensuring that each student receives personalised instruction tailored to their abilities, encompassing self-care, health, and safety aspects.

Additionally, the centre provides trainees with a monthly allowance, which has recently been increased from RM150 to RM300, further supporting their independence.

The Nabawan PPDK’s initiatives are coordinated by the Nabawan Social Welfare Department, ensuring adherence to established guidelines and standards.
