KENINGAU: The Keningau Vocational College (KV) Culinary Arts programme team, consisting of a teacher and three students, won the gold medal at the International Invention, Innovation and Design Competition (i3DC) 2024 organised by KV Tanah Merah and UiTM Kelantan Branch.
The competition results were announced last month and this team’s innovation called “Used Oil Clean Soap” or better known as “UOC Soap” was recognised and received the gold medal, said the College Head of Research and Innovation Dr Sirhajwan Idek.

He said the team was led by Saumon Maliki, an excellent teacher of the culinary arts subject who is also head of the programme at the college, and comprising three 17-year-old culinary arts students, namely Thiery Christian Thomas, Judd Ryan Marcelinus and Allyssa Amu Ronnie.
“This team created dishwashing soap produced from used cooking oil and maximised its use while reducing the purchase of dishwashing soap.
