Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Football Association (Safa) has received funding of RM500,000 from Qhazanah Sabah Berhad (QSB) at the Hari Raya Open House cum Kaamatan celebration hosted by QSB at Menara Kinabalu on Friday.
QSB chairman Datuk Dr Yusof Yakob presented the mock cheque to Safa president Datuk Shahelmey Yahya, which was witnessed by Safa deputy president Datuk Awang Kadin Tang and Sabah FC general manager Mohd Joh Wid.
Shahelmey, who expressed his gratitude to QSB for the social corporate contribution, said the funding is very significant for Safa and also Sabah FC in their efforts to manage the financial year for 2023/2025.
He had earlier urged more government-related companies (GLCs) to come forward to support the development of football in the State.
He said the donation from them will be able to obtain some tax relief for the company as an effort in implementing their corporate social responsibility (CSR).
For the record, Jetama Sdn Bhd has replaced Sawit Kinabalu as the official main sponsor for Sabah FC this season.
In addition, the water concession company will also be supplying drinking water to Sabah FC throughout their campaign in the new season.
