MEMBAKUT: Kampung Brunei once again experienced flooding from overnight rain, Friday.
Resident, Matasan Ismail Hamid, said he noticed the knee-level water at 5.55am as a result from Sungai Membakut overflowing since Thursday.

Those living in double storey buildings moved their belongings to the upper floor.
“It often floods here, therefore, we brace ourselves every time there is heavy rain,” he said.
Another resident, Rosli Ahmad, said they were lucky they had wedding ceremony in the village just one day before the flood.
“Otherwise, it would have been miserable to cancel the event as we did lots of preparations,” he said.

“Hopefully, those involved in the disaster will persevere.”
He advised residents to be more careful and not let children bathe in floodwater over crocodile presence.

“This village is also famous for its crocodiles and it is hoped that no one will become a victim, so we should take the necessary safety measures as to not become part of the statistics,” he said.
