SANDAKAN: Adrian Tan Shueh Li emerged as the Sandakan Closed Tennis Tournament champion in the men’s singles category, held recently.
The final saw Adrian beating former champion Baharudin Ladoding 7-5, 6-1. Johannes Belili and Iruwan B. Amboragang were the losing semi-finalists.

The ladies’ singles title was won by Scharllotte Avryil Silvester beating Norah Nilus 6-0, 6-1 in the final while Sandra Allysia Silvester and Leung Shu Qi were the beaten semi-finalists.
In the men’s doubles category, Adrian and Silvester Lawai defeated father and son pair Johannes Belili and Braylen Odell Johannes 6-3, 6-1 to emerge champions while Rohzan Mohd Daud/Baharudin B. Ladoding and Rabahim B. Masdik/ Iruwan B. Amboragang settled as semi-finalists.
At the closing ceremony, Sandakan District Tennis Association (SDTA) President Silvester Lawai thanked Christopher Lim who sponsored the tournament.
The results will be used by the selection committee for the upcoming Sabah Inter-Affiliate Tennis Championship which will be hosted by SDTA from May 24-26.
