Kota Kinabalu: Sabah FC will be hoping to get their first win in the Super League this season against Kelantan Darul Naim FC at Sultan Mohammad IV Stadium tonight (Friday).

Head coach Datuk Ong Kim Swee said the team have been working hard in preparing for the match since the season opener against Penang FC which ended goalless on Sunday.

“We will try our best to get a victory tomorrow. All the players are now ready and they want to ensure that they can record their first victory away from home to boost the morale for the upcoming matches,” he said on Thursday.

He added that extra work has been done to solve their finishing quality following the goalless draw with Penang FC.

This event coincides with its proposed listing on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad ("Bursa Securities"), scheduled for 30 April 2025.
“For the past few training sessions, our focus was on how to solve the finishing issue because it was the main reason we only managed a draw against Penang FC last Sunday.

“We must ensure that it will not happen again. We must ensure to convert any scoring opportunities  created if we are to get a victory against Kelantan Darul Naim FC tomorrow.”

He called on the players to focus fully and play their best once they are on the pitch.

“Every match is equally important. In order to achieve the target set by the management, the players must always stay focused to face the challenges in order to get all three points.”

He also expects a difficult match especially with the home crowd support in Kota Bharu.

“Kelantan Darul Naim FC only lost narrowly to Sri Pahang in their opening away match, and the result proved that they are no longer the team that we have known in previous seasons.

“This makes our task more difficult as Kelantan’s players will definitely try to get a positive result in front of their home fans,” added Ong.
