TAMBUNAN: The 19 finalists of the district level Kaamatan Festival Unduk Ngadau took part in a corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme at Sekolah Kebangsaan Monsok Tengah here.

Dstrict Unduk Ngadau Chairperson Saldivilla Wences said this year Unduk Ngadau Committee had taken a different initiative by carrying out CSR activities with students in this school.

“This initiative strengthens community relations and increases social awareness among students,” she said.

Saldivilla said the CSR activity was designed to inspire and educate students about the importance of organising Unduk Ngadau, which is part of Sabah’s cultural heritage.

She said, through this interaction, it is hoped that the spirit of love for culture could be instilled in the souls of teenagers and young people.

In addition, she said the programme gave the finalists the opportunity to interact and be friendly with the local community.

“This is an important step in fostering a sense of togetherness and understanding between the young generation and their traditions.

Saldivilla said throughout the programme, the finalists also visited the tagal at the river and plant trees around the school.

The district Kaamatan Festival will be held on May 25.
