PETALING JAYA: Two men have pleaded guilty to attempting to trespass into Istana Negara last Friday, according to Kuala Lumpur police chief Rusdi Isa.

Rusdi said the pair, both Malaysians aged 29 and 37, were charged at a Kuala Lumpur court today under Sections 447/511 of the Penal Code for criminal trespass.

“One of them was slapped with another charge under Section 6(1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958 (for carrying offensive weapons in public places).

“He claimed trial to this charge,” he said in a statement, adding that their motive in trying to trespass into the palace remained undetermined.

This event coincides with its proposed listing on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad ("Bursa Securities"), scheduled for 30 April 2025.
The duo were arrested at Gate 3 of Istana Negara after being stopped by police at about 4.40pm while trying to enter the palace grounds in their car.

Police had found a parang in the car. The men, who had said they were trying to meet the king, tested negative for drugs.

Meanwhile, Rusdi said police have recorded the statements of two witnesses to assist in the probe into the death threat against DAP’s Seputeh MP Teresa Kok.

He said they have yet to take Kok’s statement, adding that no arrest has been made yet.

Kok had received a death threat in the mail along with two bullets last Saturday.

Police are investigating her case under Section 507 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation by anonymous communication.
