Kota Kinabalu: Daniel Doughty was re-elected as Labuan Chambers of Commerce Chairman (LCC) for 2nd term. Deputy chairman Tan Soon Kiat; secretary general Raymund Pang and treasurer Erich Nicholas also retained their seats uncontested.

“We want to ensure stability and continued progress at the helm of LCC,” said Daniel.

He welcomed both members Steven Tee,  Wazlee W. Bin Ismail, Eng Lean Chye and newcomers Jayniel Ledder, Mary Lou Montallana and Clare Bernard.

Doughty thanked both outgoing and incoming executive committees, acknowledging their dedication to the growth and prosperity of Labuan’s business community.

“We remain committed to being a focused and dedicated platform that provides data-driven alternative voices, serving our members’ commercial interests and contributing to the betterment of Labuan’s economy,” he said.

In collaboration with UMS Sabah Labuan International Campus and Neurogine, the international financial services provider, LCC also completed a research project, resulting in the published paper “Enhancing Digital Readiness among MSME: A Study on QR Code Adoption.”

He said the initiative set the Chamber’s commitment to advancing digital transformation in the island.

LCC is also gearing up as a supporting partner for the Sabah Oil, Gas & Energy Conference & Exhibition scheduled for June 27-28 at SICC, Kota Kinabalu where key industry players would converge to explore future opportunities in the sector.

“We are eagerly anticipating a visit from the Palawan Economic Development Council (Pedco-BEBC) on June 1, led by its president Alex Paglumotan.

Discussions will focus on reactivating transshipment activities and exploring the feasibility of establishing a Labuan-Palawan Sea Route, which promises new avenues for economic cooperation and development,” said Doughty.

The Chamber has grown significantly and positively over the years, earning widespread recognition from the community for its consistent efforts in strengthening the economic and well-being of Labuan.

The recognition had motivated them to continue their pursuit of impactful initiatives that benefit its members and the broader community.
