RANAU: The proposed establishment of the Jawatankuasa Komuniti Desa Madani (JKDM) is a political strategy of opponents who deliberately want to divide village unity, said Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister Datuk Abidin Madingkir.
“This (JKDM) should not be implemented because it divides the village union which already has JKKK that is responsible for managing the development and security of the village.
“The Rural Administration Ordinance has been approved and the village administration institution has been finalised through JKKK. Therefore, there is no need to establish another village governing body.
“The action will certainly bring a lot of problems and confusion. Therefore, we see this as a political strategy of opponents who deliberately divide the village unity,” he said.
Abidin, who is also StarSabah’s Vice President and Paginatan Assemblyman, said he would leave it to the State Government on how to deal with the problem.
He said this when officiating the Majlis Silaturahim Setiausaha JKKK DUN Paginatan at Star Paginatan Headquarters, near here.
He advised the secretaries of the JKKK DUN Paginatan to always cooperate with their respective chairmen to strengthen the village administration.
“Cooperation between the secretary and the village chairman is very important to facilitate smooth village administration. There should also be cooperation between the JKKK and the village head so that there are no misunderstandings.
“The Council of Secretaries is the Government’s eyes and ears to identify village problems. The Government expects 100pc support from the Council of Secretaries to implement the Government’s development agenda.
“Not only that, the secretaries of the JKKKs must also always play a role in conveying the Government’s agenda to the villagers,” he said.
Also present at the event were Community Development Leader (PPM) Paginatan Hishamudin Harun, Ko Nelayan Chairman Kong Soon Choi, Chief Parliamentary Liaison Officer Ranau Benedick Gunda, Special Officer to Datuk Abidin Madingkir Juis Konsuling and CDO Jipili Sigal.
