Perlis MB’s son to be charged tomorrow

PETALING JAYA: Perlis menteri besar Shukri Ramli’s son will be charged in court tomorrow following a Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) probe into the alleged falsification of documents related to claims for infrastructure projects worth RM600,000.
Shukri’s former political secretary will also be charged in court over the same case tomorrow, Berita Harian reported.

According to the daily, a source said the duo will be charged under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.
“The MACC will provide information about the charges later,” the source added.
Last Wednesday, MACC chief Azam Baki said the anti-graft agency had completed its probe into Shukri’s son and four others linked to the case.
While he said the anti-graft agency had submitted its findings to the deputy public prosecutor’s office, Azam declined to comment when asked whether MACC had proposed that Shukri’s son and the others be charged in court.

Shukri’s son and four others were arrested on April 24 and released on MACC bail two days later. Shukri too, was detained by the anti-graft agency on April 30 before being released on MACC bail the same day.
The Perlis menteri besar gave a statement in connection with an alleged abuse of power case and spent nearly eight hours at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya.
