Kota Kinabalu: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Supreme Council member Datuk Fredian Gan urged all Sabahans to unite under the State Government’s efforts in claiming the long overdue 40 per cent revenue entitlement, including its improvements in terms of interim payment quantum.
“We should be consistent and focus on this matter so that the efforts of the Sabah Government to obtain all Sabah rights in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) are more coherent and accurate to be clearly heard by the Federal Government,” he said in a statement.

Fredian reiterated Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor’s statement last Friday that Sabah would maintain an unchanging stance in claiming the 40 per cent.
“Confusion arose following a statement by a lawyer after the recent judicial review hearing by the Sabah Law Society (SLS).
“Hajiji has stated that the lawyer’s statement is not in line with the Sabah Government’s position and he has instructed the State Attorney General to correct it.
“The Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) government has not budged from its position to continue working through the consultation platform with the Federal Government to obtain Sabah’s rights as enshrined in the constitution,” he said.

Fredian also said Hajiji respects the right of SLS to initiate legal proceedings for the purpose of obtaining the constitutional rights concerned.
