Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Karate Association (SKA) successfully defended their overall title at the 2nd National Talent Carnival karate competition jointly organised by Melaka Sports
Council and the National Sports Council in Melaka held at the MBMB Basketball Hall in Bukit Serindit over the weekend.

They captured a total of six golds, four silvers and eight bronzes to top the medal tally followed by Selangor with six golds, one silver and four bronzes, and third place went to Johor with three golds, two silvers and three bronzes.
The gold medallists were Nur Rasyiqah Fari’ah Razmi (Kata Female), Al-Zovainz Zurizal (Kumite Male -57kg), Amirah Syahindah Azlan (Kumite Female +61kg), Theo Noah Thomas (Kumite Male +70kg), Khairil Iman Ahmat (Kumite Male -55kg) and Shawanda Dania Sharul (Kumite Female -48kg).
The silvers were won by Dezzie Chell Davis (Kumite Female -47kg), Rose Dayana Hamli (Kumite Female -56kg), Ameera Jnita Liew (Kumite Female -53kg) and Mohamad Idzham Zairie (Kumite Male -76kg) while the bronze medals came from Adlin Vince Viceroy (Kata Male), Leonard Vresley Ajen (Kumite Male –63kg), Ellroy Neeyo Nicholos (Kumite Male -70kg), Ryyen Ryye Gerrard Rojin (Kata Male), Bibi Aysha Muhd Zain (Kata Female), Cassey Veranova Gustin(Kumite Female -59kg), Alvince Dare Alfaveneo, Mohammad Idzham Zairie (Kumite Male -68kg) and Angel Seow Pei Yun (Kumite Female -66kg).
The team was represented by 24 athletes selected from SKA affiliate members under the talent programme.
SKA secretary general Julian Chin was happy the athletes were able to deliver and defend the overall title.
He said the successful outing proved that their grassroots development is on the right track and wants all parties involved to stay focused and continue the good work.
