Choo took home the RM1,000 winning prize and RM600 went to Hamizan, while Desmond Chan and Pg Roslannie Jumat finishing in third and fourth place each received RM400 and RM200 respectively.
In the women’s novice category, Labuan’s ladies dominated the podium with Faridah Ida Mohammad scoring 58 points to take the title and RM800 cash.
In second place was Yatt Norhayati Gunianto, who collected RM600 followed by Effalin Ilham with RM400 and Hellynn Dani from Kota Belud with RM200.
Meanwhile, event coordinator Roger Frederick hopes the annual event held in conjunction with the State Kaamatan celebration will become an international event next year.
“The event was a success this year with outside participants coming from the Peninsula, Brunei, Labuan and even the USA despite only three weeks of promotion.
“I believe it has the potential to become an international event by attracting more entries from Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Thailand and Taiwan, but this will need better promotion and prize money,” he said.
He also thanked Sabah Sports Board, especially general manager Terrance Pudin, Labuan women’s team coach Flavia Mannie Luntak and sponsor Life Water Sdn Bhd for their support.
