Kota Kinabalu: Quest International University, Faculty of Pharmacy in Ipoh, Perak which is led by Sabahan Prof. Datuk Dr Allan Mathews
(pic) was invited to be a founding member of the centre designated as International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) - United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco) Unitwin (university twinning) Centre of Excellence.
There are five founding universities from the 28 countries in Western Pacific Region (WPR).

The five are University of Singapore, Quest International University, Universiti Sains Malaysia, University of Queensland (Australia), University of Makati (Philippines).
The centre aims to advance research, training and curriculum development in pharmacy education in the Western Pacific Region focusing on Global Pharmacy Education Development and to promote an integrated system of pharmacy research, teaching and training, and community engagement and communication.
The launching of the centre was on 29 May 2024 from the Hague in the Netherlands.
Prof. Datuk Dr Allan Mathews, from Beaufort developed an innovative undergraduate Pharmacy Programme with extensive experiential learning in different practice areas and where students get to interact with patients from the first year of the four-year programme.
