Tuaran: A 35-year-old lorry driver died when he got stuck under a hydraulic pump of a five-tonne lorry in Kg Taginambur, Jalan Tamparuli-Ranau, near here, Saturday.

It was learnt that the incident occurred when the man was inspecting parts of the vehicle after moving a load of soil.

Tuaran District Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) Chief Mohamad Nor Amit said the department received an emergency call regarding the incident at 1.51pm.

He said 10 members, including officers, rushed to the scene, adding the victim was found trapped at the bottom of the hydraulic pump and unconscious.

“The victim was removed using a special equipment and confirmed dead by a medical officer from the Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM),” said Nor.

The victim’s body was then handed over to the police for further action.
