Tenom: The Malaysian Cocoa Board Unit here contributed 37.5 per cent or 54 tons of the country’s total cocoa production of 144 tonnes in the first quarter of this year.
Tenom Member of Parliament Riduan Rubin said this covers Sipitang, Keningau, Nabawan and Sook under the supervision of the Malaysian Cocoa Board Unit here with a total cocoa plantation area of 360 hectares cultivated by 554 farmers.
He said this achievement serves as an impetus for the Board to continue its activities and contribute to the development of the cocoa industry in the district.
Riduan, who is a member of the Malaysian Cocoa Board’s Board of Trustees, hoped the cocoa growers’ community in Tenom and the surrounding districts would remain active and intensify their efforts in cocoa cultivation.
